Spring Yogaday 2021 (Virtual)

  • Five unique classes by our Yogi Experts
  • YAGD members who participate in SYD will be entered into a prize drawing
  • Classes will run 60-75 minutes

Meet the teachers for this year’s Spring Yogaday!

Sharon Holcomb

Sharon Holcomb is an experienced registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and member of the Yoga Association of Greater Detroit. She completed her yoga teacher training with YogaMedics in 2012.

Claudette Bond

Claudette’s objective is to share a soothing, energetic Hatha Yoga with all ages from pre-natal to 100+. Most students are able to breathe better, increasing energy levels with strengthened muscles for an overall better lifestyle.

Laura Lerman

Laura received two RYT 200 certificates from Rising Sun Yoga and YogaMedics between 2003 and 2017. During that time she received 1-3 Reiki attunements in Usui and Crystalline Reiki, most recently with Reiki Master Teacher Lisa Guyman. Teaching yoga and using reiki in her massage practice since 2006, she believes wellness begins within the self; and enjoys offering services to help others make that inner connection.

Mihir Sahoo

Mihir has been a volunteer and meditation instructor for the Art of Living Foundation for more than a decade. Ever since childhood, Mihir had seen his grandfather heal people with ancient science of Ayurveda and use of Vedic wisdom for mental wellness. He got more systematic learning of Yoga and Meditation when he attended Art of Living Meditation program 15years back.

Inspired by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi shankar ji’s vision and mission to create a stress-free and violence-free society, Mihir has been involved in different service activities in the community through Art of Living and its sister organization International Association for Human Values (IAHV). During his one year stay in Art of Living Ashram at Bengaluru, India he got access to deeper knowledge of Vedic wisdom and the benefits it can bring to the community especially to the Youth. 

Accredited with Yoga Alliance as a 200HR Sri Sri Yoga certified instructor, he also volunteers and serves as the Corresponding Secretary for the Yoga Association of Greater Detroit. Mihir is also an automotive design engineer by profession.

Chris Briney

Chris Briney is one of Metro Detroit’s most highly-trained and well-versed teachers of yoga.  He has maintained a regular yoga practice for over 23 years and has been teaching since 2001. He is one of only a handful of teachers to hold a Level III Iyengar Yoga Teaching Certificate.  In 2014, Chris made his first trip to Pune, India to study with B.K.S. Iyengar and his family at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute.  His teaching offers a rich blend of solid methodology gained from extensive training, along with a deeply intuitive approach to transmitting the subject gained from devoted practice.  His main aim is to practice and teach the subject of yoga in an authentic way that fosters spiritual realization and ultimate freedom.
