News from Betsy Bertolino, who some of you may remember—she is one of our founding members and taught many of us before she and her husband, Carl moved to Florida, quite a few years ago. We’ve just learned that Carl had a severe stroke, and died 6 days later, in December. He was 94, and she is now 91. They had planned to move to our upper peninsula, where one of their daughters and son-in-law live. So with the help of her children and some good friends, Betsy is now back in Michigan. She is “in a Senior Center on a small mountain overlooking the towns of Houghton and Hancock. There is a river and lift bridge that connects the two towns and it is very beautiful and historic and scenic up here – I also look at ski slopes across the river! … I moved up in March, but it has taken me quite a while to really get here and be here – focused and grounded. Susan and Brian are retired now & live in Baraga, a few miles away and I see them often.”
“I feel so honored to be a Lifetime member of YAGD, and I am so happy that it is still thriving. You and all the others who keep the organization going are doing a fantastic job. Love & blessings to You and All. Namaste’, Betsy
Betsy’s new address will be posted in our soon to be updated member listing.
Pat Halloran and I attended Chris’s class in the Reviera Court at the DIA on Saturday the 13th. What a great experience. Chris did a great job and the impact of the art all around us was so inspiring!! Here are a couple pictures…
Thanks to all that took the time to join me at my house Sunday the 9th. We managed to have a fun and informative yoga practice, with each participant providing a pose….Always nice to see how someone else presents a pose and to discover new ones for consideration. The food was great and abundant. It’s so nice to meet members we don’t often see and have time to simply chat with others.
I wish I had remembered to get a picture of everyone!! Darn..Did anybody take a picture?? If so please share with me and I will post it here.
Looking forward to GOOD WEATHER (hopefully) and seeing everyone at my house on Sunday. As you know we are doing a pot luck. As promised, I will post here what foods I’ve been made aware of that are coming so you can better decide what to bring. I will provide coffee, tea, water, plates, paper cups and such along with a dip or two.
WOW we had the best yoga day turnout in a long while and I just want to thank all of those who attended and helped out. It was a fun filled day of meditation, laughter yoga, Iyenger yoga, alignment, chair, playfulness, and more.
We also want to welcome Mary Deroo, Marla Horwitz, Stephanie Nagy and Peggy Darnell as new members who joined us Saturday. We will have their info out in Tapas shortly. Below is a photo from last years SYD just for fun!!
New information from member Khaya Davidson. Ed was scheduled for surgery to today but it has been delayed til Friday. He is having some lung capacity trouble and the doctors want him to be as healthy as possible. I’m sure they would appreciate your cards and prayers.
Thanks to all who brought a dish to pass. We had a moderate turnout, as several members came down with various bugs going around. Wishing them a speedy recovery. Khaya’s husband Ed is on the mend and home from the hospital. He still has a potential surgery to go through so keep them in your thoughts. Looking forward to the New Year!
Dear members, just want you to know Khaya has advised that her spouse Ed had an event last Tuesday morning that has landed him in the hospital. He will require future surgery and is also recovering form a fractured sacrum. Please send Khaya and Ed your prayers and thoughts. I’m sure they would enjoy hearing from you via cards or emails.
